County continues to make progress on new jail

Saline County continues to make headway on the voter-approved construction of the new jail and Sheriff’s facility. On Monday, May 3, the Salina City Commission approved on second reading three ordinances that allow for the construction of the jail at the selected site: vacation of the right-of-way for a platted but never constructed section of Woodland Avenue (Ordinance No. 21-11054), amending the City’s future land use plan to change the land from an “employment” designation to “public/semi-public” (Ordinance No. 21-11060), and rezoning the property from industrial to public use – public facilities (Ordinance No. 21-11061).
