Job Duties Include:


Open until filled, with first review of applications on 6/10/2026.


This employee will use his/her abilities to assess all youth arrested or Children in Need of Care that come through Juvenile Intake by Law Enforcement in the 28th Judicial District (Saline and Ottawa Counties). JIAS workers will assess the situation, complete all required screenings and paperwork, and then make recommendations for best possible placement and any services that may be needed. May provide transportation services.


The Intake Staff are required to be on-call one night per week and one weekend per month on a rotating basis. During this time, they must respond to any calls by phone within 10 minutes and in person within 30 minutes. Intake staff are paid at a rate of $2.00 per hour for each hour required to serve on standby status when on a weekday and $3.00 per hour for each hour required to serve on a weekend or holiday. 


Intake staff are paid at a rate of $25.00 per hour for any time responding to calls in person.



Requirements


Minimum Qualifications:

    1. Must have a High School diploma or the equivalent.
    2. Must have valid Kansas Driver’s License and reliable transportation. 
    3. Must have a working knowledge of juvenile and family dynamics.
    4. A basic understanding of adolescent development.
    5. An ability to carry out Intake and Assessment duties, once trained. 
    6. A general knowledge of available community services and providers. 
    7. An ability to use computer and navigate in a Window’s environment.


Physical Requirements:
Determined Work Level: Level 2 – Light Work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Required walking or standing to a significant degree; or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls.
