The Saline County Department of Emergency Management will ensure that the county is prepared to respond to and recover from natural and man-made emergencies through coordination with County and Local shareholders. This department provides the leadership and support to reduce the loss of life and property through an all-hazards emergency management program of mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery throughout Saline County.
Building a safer future through effective partnerships of local government, emergency services, private sector, and volunteer agencies and the citizens of Saline County to save lives, protect property and reduce the effects of disasters through preparedness, prevention, planning, response, and recovery activities.

Michelle (Barkley) Weis has served as the Saline County Emergency Management Director for the past 3 years. Michelle, an Alumni of Kansas Wesleyan University, studied Emergency Management and Criminal Justice and was a member of the Women’s Soccer team for four years. In 2021 she received her Master’s of Science from Adelphi University. Her passion for Emergency Preparedness comes from her time assisting organizations with their Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements. Michelle currently is the KEMA Vice President for the Kansas North Central Region and serves on the Executive Committee for the North Central Healthcare Coalition and North Central Regional Homeland Security Council. Michelle loves to spend her time running with her two dogs and golfing with her husband.
Natasha Cundy has worked in the emergency services field for over 15 years, joining Saline County Emergency Management as the Deputy Director in October of 2021. Originally from Mississippi, Natasha moved to Kansas in 2008 for an Emergency Services Dispatcher position with the Fort Riley Military Emergency Services. In 2013, she transitioned into the Emergency Management field, starting in Linn County, KS, as an Emergency Management Planner and then transferring to Pottawatomie County, KS as the Emergency Management Coordinator. She earned her Master’s degree in Emergency and Disaster Management with Honors from American Public University in May of 2018. She has a passion for helping the citizens and community prepare for, protect themselves from, and recover from emergencies and disasters. Natasha enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and friends in her downtime.
