Saline County is seeking a highly qualified, proven leader to serve as our Assistant County Administrator.


Under the direction of the County Administrator, the Assistant County Administrator serves as the lead financial officer for the county, providing executive leadership for the County's financial management, budget development, capital planning, procurement, grant administration, organizational performance management, and enterprise risk management.

The position serves as the County's financial strategist by promoting fiscal sustainability, operational accountability, and data-informed decision making while assisting the County Administrator in implementing the strategic priorities established by the Board of County Commissioners.

Serve as Acting County Administrator when designated by the County Administrator or the Board of County Commissioners.

The Assistant County Administrator exists to ensure the long-term financial health and operational effectiveness of Saline County through strategic financial planning, responsible stewardship of public resources, organizational performance management, and continuous improvement of County operations.


Initial application screening and first-round interviews for selected candidates are expected to take place during the week of September 21, 2026.


Salary Information:  $78,166.40 to $119,225.60, Dependent on qualifications.




Requirements


Minimum Qualifications;


      1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields. A master's degree in public administration, business or related field is preferred.
      2. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in progressive responsibility of financial management, local government finance, public administration or budgeting.
      3. Thorough knowledge of governmental budgeting, accounting, financial management, and public finance.
      4. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of public administration, strategic planning, and organizational management.
      5. Knowledge of capital improvement planning debt management, purchasing, grant administration, and government auditing.
      6. Knowledge of capital improvement planning, debt management, purchasing, grant administration, and governmental auditing.
      7. Thorough knowledge of research methods and techniques as they apply to governmental operations.
      8. Ability to provide effective leadership, emphasizing a team concept and coordination in developing solutions, recommending new techniques, and supervising Staff procedures.
      9. Ability to plan and coordinate a diverse number of activities simultaneously.
      10. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
      11. Ability to prepare, present and interpret complex reports such as legal documents, bond issues, policy statements, budgets, and manuals.
      12. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County Commissioners, County Department Heads, County employees, City agents and employees, other public officials, and the public.
      13. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of personal computers for word processing and spreadsheet analysis.
      14. Maintains professional standards of ethics and integrity.
      15. Must have a valid Kansas driver’s license.
